| Our chapter was
officially recognized by SHPE during the fall of '99 with only 6 members
to run it. The SHPE-NIU chapter is still learning and receiving information
about SHPE and how it benefits us in every aspect.
Last year, our chapter of SHPE here at NIU came to a halt without anyone running it, but this year we are back, motivated, and full of ideas for the upcoming semesters. Currently, we have 11 members and still growing. We are serious about SHPE and we want the school to know about our new organization. Our new chapter is full of ideas and can't wait to start the new school term. Their plans for recruitment are great and it brings all the current members to work together. The SHPE-NIU chapter will continue to create new and better fundraising ideas, recruitment strategies, and involvement within SHPE before and after graduation, as well as new community volunteering and outreach projects in order to increase awareness of engineering to high school students. With all the information we have learned and with new members and excitement, we can build one of the strongest SHPE chapter in our region. It takes time and a lot of effort, and SHPE-NIU is ready to handle such a great responsibility. |
