Available for research testing of materials are two state-of-the-art, computer-controlled MTS test frames.

A Tensile Testing Machine is the closest picture to the right.  This Machine stretches the sample until failure occurs.

A Torsion Testing Machine is the farthest picture to the right.  This machine twists the sample until failure occurs.

The picture to the right is a Compression Testing Machine.  This machine compresses the samples until failure occurs.

The Materials Analysis Laboratory houses several types of microscopes and digital imaging systems for characterizing the internal structure of materials.

The Structure and Properties Laboratory houses six student workstations for performing mechanical tests on materials.
