Author Guideline

 

 

In order for your paper to be published in the 2005 ASEE Illinois-Indiana Regional Conference, at least one author per paper must register and attend the conference.  The deadline for this registration is March 14th 2005.

Important Deadlines to Remember

 

December 3rd, 2004                Deadline for paper abstract (5pm central time)

December 17th, 2004             Notification of preliminary selection based on abstracts.

January 28th , 2005                 Full paper due (5pm central time)

February 25th , 2005               Notification of final acceptance

March 1st 2005                        Early bird registration due

March 11th, 2005                     Final paper due (5pm central time)

March 14th, 2005                    At least one author per paper must be registered in order to present the paper. 

                                                  Otherwise the paper will be deleted from the final program.

 

Cancellation: Registration fee is not refundable.  However, substitutions are encouraged and will be accepted.

Abstract Submission

Abstracts are due by the Friday, December 3rd 2004.  The size of the abstract should be limited to 300 to 350 words.

 

Full Paper Formatting Instructions

Please follow the instruction during the preparation of your full paper.  A paper need to follow these instructions before it can be accepted.  A sample paper can be downloaded as a reference.

 

1. Title Page (top part of first page only)

1.1. Title of Paper

The title must be centered 2 spaces below the session number with at least a one and one-half inch margin on the left and the right.

Font should be ‘Times New Roman’, capital and bold faced, 12 point.

1.2. Author and Affiliation

The author name(s) must be centered 2 spaces below the title with at least a one and one-half inch margin on the left and the right. If there are multiple authors, they must be divided by commas (,).

Font should be ‘Times New Roman’, bold faced, 12 point.

The affiliations must be 1 space below the author name(s) with the same one and one half inch margin on each side. If there are multiple affiliations due to multiple authors, they must be provided in separate lines.

Font should be ‘Times New Roman’, italic, 10 point.

 

2. Body of the Paper (beginning under the title information on the first page and continuing with all subsequent pages)

2.1. First Page - The body of the paper must begin 4 spaces below the affiliation(s) on the first page (following all title information, on the same page).  The paper will be in a one-column format with left and right justification.  There must be a 1 inch margin on the left, right, top, and bottom.  Times New Roman typeface is required, 12 point, skipping one line between paragraphs.

2.2 Second and All Subsequent Pages - There must be a 1 inch margin all around (top, bottom, right, left), left and right justified, skipping one line between paragraphs. Times New Roman typeface is required, 12 point, using only standard symbols and abbreviations in text and illustrations.

2.3. Abstracts - Abstracts are not required, but can be embedded within the introduction section of the paper, not on a separate page.

2.4. Headings - Headings must be numbered and centered.  There must be one line space between the heading and the paragraph.  Font should be ‘Times New Roman’, capital, and 12 point.

Secondary Heading should be numbered and left justified.  Font should be ‘Times New Roman’, italic, and 12 point.

2.5. Page Numbering - Do not number the pages.

2.6. Length – The papers need to be within the 6 page limit and not more than 4MB of file size.

2.7. Footer - The following footer should be used on every page of your paper.  Font should be ‘Times New Roman’, italic, and 10 point:

2.8. References (following body of paper)

The reference section must begin 2 spaces below the body of the paper using the same margins as the body.  Font should be ‘Times New Roman’ typeface is required, 12 point.

 Use the (Author, year) citation style and list references in alphabetical order of surname of first author.  Examples are as follows:
